We returned to Meadow View in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire to design and build a triple garage with retaining walls.
It's always lovely to return to a previous project, and that's exactly what happened when we headed back to Meadow View in Burton Upon Trent recently.
We were asked to add a triple garage to their property, a valuable addition that would give them much-needed storage and parking space.
You might remember this beautiful bungalow from 2020, where we completed a full home renovation and extension. We created a beautiful pitched roof extension with a glazed gable that frames the views out over the surrounding fields.

Looking at the photo, you might notice why this project needed careful planning.
The site has quite a slope with hilly terrain throughout, so when we were approached about adding a garage near to the property, we knew it would be challenging.
But that's exactly the type of challenge our team enjoys! Working with the landscape to create something that feels like it belongs.

Why Triple Garages Work?
We've found that double and triple garages have become increasingly popular among Staffordshire homeowners.
Beyond housing three vehicles, they offer versatile space for storage, workshop areas, and future needs like electric vehicle charging or home gym equipment.
Working with Sloped Terrain
Having worked on this property before, we already understood the ground conditions and how the family uses their space. The new garage needed to complement our 2020 extension while dealing with the sloping site.
Conventional garage construction wasn't possible here. We needed engineered retaining walls to handle the level changes and create a stable platform for the garage.
The slope that initially seemed challenging actually became an asset, letting us create a garage that sits naturally in the landscape.

Professional Retaining Walls
Retaining walls are often essential for garage projects on Staffordshire's varied terrain. These are engineered structures requiring professional expertise, especially with significant level changes like at Meadow View.
We work with qualified structural engineers to ensure all retaining walls meet building standards. This project required careful calculation of loads, drainage, and long-term stability.

Our Design and Build Approach
Working as a full-service design and build company offers clear advantages for our clients, including:
- Single point of contact - you work with one team from concept to completion
- Cost-effective solutions - our integrated approach delivers value while maintaining quality
- Combined expertise - we spot potential issues early and design practical solutions
Planning and Regulations
Many garage projects qualify for permitted development rights (no planning permission needed), but Building Regulations approval is essential. Retaining walls typically require structural calculations.
We handle all applications and ensure compliance throughout construction.

Why We Love Garage Projects
Garage projects are some of our most efficient work:
- Proven processes keep projects on schedule and budget
- Experience means we understand common challenges
- Established suppliers ensure quality materials and cost savings
- Skilled team with extensive garage construction experience
Adding Property Value
Well-designed garages consistently add value to Staffordshire properties. They're one of the most cost-effective home improvements, providing immediate benefits like secure parking and storage while enhancing long-term property value.
Future-Proofing
Modern garage design should consider electric vehicle preparation and smart technology. Even without an electric vehicle now, appropriate electrical infrastructure is increasingly important for the future.
