We're excited to share this recently completed transformation of a 3-bed bungalow in Stoke-on-Trent into a stunning family home.

How It Started

When our clients first reached out to us, they had just purchased this bungalow with big plans for their young family. They knew the home had tons of potential but needed our help to unlock it.

Their wishlist? A spacious open-plan kitchen where family meals and memories could happen, a proper home office (because working from the kitchen table just doesn't cut it!), practical spaces like a utility room and ground floor shower, and plenty of clever storage to keep toys and daily clutter at bay.

Finding the Perfect Layout

We explored several different layout options with the family before landing on 'the one' - it's always fascinating to see how many different ways you can reconfigure a space! Each option had its merits, but the final design perfectly balanced the family's current needs while thinking ahead to how they'll use the space as the boys grow up.

The Transformation

The star of the renovation is definitely the rear extension with its fully vaulted ceiling and stunning apex glazing that floods the space with natural light.

The kitchen now opens directly to the garden through patio doors, creating that seamless indoor-outdoor connection that's perfect for family living. It's already become the heart of the home where cooking, dining, and family time all happen naturally.

We added a compact side extension that created the perfect home office space, away from the main living areas but still connected to family life. With more people working from home than ever, this dedicated workspace has proven invaluable for maintaining work-life balance.

With two young boys, practicality was key! The new utility room helps keep laundry under control, and the ground floor shower room has been perfect for quickly cleaning up after muddy garden adventures.

We relocated the family bathroom to create a more functional layout and added built-in storage throughout – all of which have made daily life smoother and more organised for this busy family.

Future Plans

While the current renovation has dramatically transformed Blythe View into a highly functional family home, we've designed with the future in mind. There's space allocated for a potential Phase 2 development – a spacious playroom with direct garden access that can be added when the family is ready.
