We've been featured in the FMB's monthly magazine!

The magazine asked Alexandra to reflect on what she would tell her younger self when starting out in business - an interesting question that really got her thinking about how much her perspective has changed over the past six years of building Powell Design & Construction.

In the feature, Alexandra talks about some of the shifts in thinking that have happened along the way - like realising that saying “no” to certain opportunities can sometimes be more valuable than saying yes to everything and anything! Alexandra always spoke about how she and Richard have learned that investing in the right people and systems early on has made such a difference to how they work.

The magazine also included a fun "Five in Five" section where Richard answered some quick-fire questions about construction. Richard's attachment to his trusty circular saw definitely made it in there, along with some other lighter insights into what it’s really like to run a design and construction business.

The whole experience was a nice reminder of how much they've both learned, not just about their trades, but about running a business together that feels right for them and their clients.
