Earlier this week, Alexandra Powell (Managing Director and Lead Architect here at Powell Design & Construction) attended Loughborough University’s architecture placement event, supporting second-year students with mock interviews, portfolio reviews, and CV feedback.

Events like this are a valuable opportunity for up-and-coming architecture students to gain real-world insight into the industry, while also allowing design and construction practices like ours to connect with emerging talent.

Throughout the day, there were some great conversations, with several students standing out through their portfolios, approach, and understanding of the design process. A number of them are already being considered as potential candidates for our September placement intake.

As Powell Design & Construction continues to grow, developing and supporting future talent through initiatives like Powell Academy remains an important part of what we do.

We believe engaging with students early in their careers helps bridge the gap between education and practice, giving them clearer direction as they move into the industry.
